And They Call It Winter Garden

Winter Garden Florida is one of the most beautiful cities in the state. One can take in the historical architecture of downtown Winter Garden or the beautiful gardens that surround the city. But for those of you craving a unique experience, there’s plenty to do!

Who doesn’t love a good farmer’s market? Fresh produce, handmade items, knick-knacks, and overall, just good energy! Lose yourself in the homemade products the vendors have to offer. Farmers Markets are unique in their own right. Enjoy your shopping experience while supporting a local business. They also have events during the weekend!

Take a bike ride, skate, jog or walk along West Orange Trail. This 22-mile trail takes you all the way to Apopka so be sure to take in the scenery as you journey along railroads and bridges. No worries on this trail as there’s hardly any traffic, lots of shaded spots, and bike rental stores if you're in need.

For art enthusiasts, check out SoBo Art Gallery. This gallery showcases local artists and hosts art exhibits monthly. Open to the public, all are welcome to visit or even take an art class or two for kids and adults. SoBo Art gallery brings art and creativity to life! It’s a perfect escape.

Let’s go shopping! Winter Garden Village is the place to be. There are over 100 retailers! If that doesn’t excite you, I don’t know what will. Shop for clothing, furniture, fabric, hardware, shoes, and even groceries. Of course, you can’t have a full day of shopping without replenishing your fuel. Feast until your heart is content at one of the many restaurants within the Village. It’s truly a match made in heaven when you can shop and dine all in one spot. Winter Garden Village will not disappoint!

Ever been to a railroad museum? Check out Central Florida’s Railroad Museum in downtown Winter Garden. Step back in time and marvel at the vintage pieces that are housed at this museum.

“Inside the museum, you will be greeted by locals and a volunteer that will give you a grand tour of the museum that chronicles the history of the two main railroads that ran through Winter Garden, the Tavares and Gulf Rail Company and The Atlantic Coast Line. Pasted to the walls are pictures and various signage that depicts the storied tradition and heritage of the still-functioning rail system. The railroad was a key component of the Winter Garden economy that exported produce and freight and imported people from all over the State." Volunteer Terry Baker of the Railroad Museum notes that “Trains were a civilized means of travel. You could jump on a train and avoid the day-to-day traffic."

Museum admission and parking is free. Bring the kiddos and receive a “History Hunt” map that they can use to learn about significant landmarks in Winter Garden.

There is so much to discover in Winter Garden. A beautiful city full of beautiful people and sites galore. Make it a point to visit and explore all that is, Winter Garden, Florida.
