Here’s a detailed itinerary of our journey, filled with exciting activities and historical sites that will provide an unforgettable experience.

Day 1: Arrival and Settling In

We flew into Louisville International Airport (SDF), which offers convenient access to the city's major attractions.

We chose to stay at the DerbyCityRetreat LUX GameRMArcade, an Airbnb that boasts luxurious accommodations and an arcade room perfect for family fun.

Day 2: Camp DLO Basketball and Muhammad Ali Center

Morning: Camp DLO Basketball

My son, who loves basketball, spent the morning at Camp DLO, a fantastic camp offering top-notch training and fun activities. He enjoyed honing his skills and meeting new friends.

We visited the Muhammad Ali Center, a museum dedicated to the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali. The interactive exhibits and inspirational stories provided a deep dive into Ali's life, achievements, and his fight for social justice.

Evening: Dinner at Bahn Thai Restaurant

We returned to Louisville for dinner at Bahn Thai Restaurant, where the Thai cuisine was flavorful and satisfying.

Day 3: The Ark Encounter and Creation Museum

We drove to Williamstown to visit the Ark Encounter, a life-sized replica of Noah's Ark. The detailed exhibits about the Ark and the petting zoo made it a fascinating experience for my son.

We ended the day with a delicious meal at El Jalisco Mexican Restaurant, where the authentic Mexican dishes were a delightful treat.

Late Afternoon: Creation Museum

Our next stop was the Creation Museum in Petersburg. The museum’s educational and captivating exhibits on biblical history, planetarium shows, and botanical gardens.

We then embarked on a cruise aboard the Belle of Louisville, a historic steamboat offering scenic tours along the Ohio River. The narrated tour provided insights into the river's history and the steamboat era.

Evening: Dinner at Doc Crow's Southern Smokehouse & Raw Bar

We enjoyed a hearty dinner at Doc Crow's, sampling their delicious barbecue and seafood.

Day 5: Mammoth Cave and Historical Sites

Morning: Mammoth Cave Horseback Riding with Double J Stables

We headed to Mammoth Cave National Park for a horseback riding adventure with Double J Stables. Exploring Mamouth State Park on horseback was a unique experience my son loved. Make sure to book an appointment in advance to see the Mammoth Cave.

Afternoon: President Lincoln's Birthplace and Crystal Clear Kayak

We visited the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park, learning about Lincoln's early life and legacy.

Later, we went crystal clear kayaking in a mined cave with SUP Kentucky, an extraordinary way to explore the underwater world.

Day 6: Exploring Black History and Culture

Morning: Black History of Kentucky

We visited the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage in Louisville to learn about the contributions and history of African Americans in Kentucky. The exhibits and programs were both educational and inspiring.

Afternoon: Cultural Sites and Relaxation

We toured Louisville's historical sites and cultural landmarks, including the historic Quinn Chapel AME Church and the Muhammad Ali Childhood Home.

Evening: Farewell Dinner at Proof on Main

Our trip concluded with a delightful dinner at Proof on Main, a restaurant known for its contemporary Southern cuisine and artful decor.
