Meet Debbie Belton of Matamo Designs
What is Matamo Designs?
The streets of Mount Dora are filled with great restaurants, boutiques and other specialty stores. However, Matamo Designs has been a cornerstone in this community since 2008. This eclectic shop is filled with home furnishings to accentuate any home. Many countries influence the style, color and textures of the store. The countries with the greatest influence are as Indonesia, Brazil and the Philippines. Most importantly, we love the fact that Matamo Designs celebrates the diverse backgrounds of Central Florida. In other words, don’t be surprised to find gifts for Christmas, Kwanzaa and Hanukkah all on the same shelf. You will also find books from the Dali Llama or Buddhist meditation. Debbie and staff offer a variety of services. For instance, services include home decorating ideas, free in-home consultations and free furniture delivery. The free furniture delivery is within Lake County and certain Orlando areas.
Debbie’s inspiration for Matamo Design was born from working alongside her husband in a creative role at his residential construction company. At the age of 40, Debbie had a major “Aha” moment. She created a business for herself in addition to sharing her creativity with the masses. However, being the daughter of an architect and in a family full of artists, Debbie discovered her natural eye for interior design. Originally from South Florida, Debbie relocated to Lake County after meeting her husband Bobby. Above all, they fell in love, planted a seed and it blossomed. Overall, for anyone interested in starting their own business, Debbie’s advice is, “Know your customer base, do your due diligence and let your moxie do the rest!”
